Imagine waking up in Lamezia Terme
The City of Lamezia Terme is a city and a commune in the province of Catanzaro (Calabria) in Italy. It is the major city on the Tyrrhenian Sea side of Italy in the 500 km-stretch from Salerno to Reggio Calabria. It is born in 1968 with the union of three communities: Nicastro, Sambiase and Sant’Eufemia. The current name recalls the presence on this territory of sulphurous thermal spring waters used from Antiquity to our days. The city is in the centre of Tyrrhenian Calabria, close to the Gulf of Sant' Eufemia, where the distance between the Ionienne and the Tyrrhenian Sea is most reduced. The particular urban geneses gave to Lamezia Terme an original polycentric structure, with an alternation of historical centres and more modern districts intersected with agricultural spaces. With beautiful romantic rocky bays and sandy beaches, Lamezia Terme is an untouched and unspoilt region that is definitely worth visiting. Culture lovers will be spoilt for choice. Lamezia Terme is one of the most important commercial centres of Calabria. This fertile region produces wine, strawberries, olives, aubergines, wheat and beets.

Nicastro, the largest of the three villages, still shows signs of its illustrious history, with the remains of a Norman castle and a 17th-century cathedral. The archaeological museum has a large collection of interesting finds from the past. Sambiase is famous for its thermal baths at the spa of Caronte. Not far from the spa is the magnificent Difesa Mitoio Caronte Park. Sant’Eufemia is the modern heart of the town thanks to its efficient infrastructure. Here too there are echoes of the past, such as the site of Terina, which has been identified as an old Greek colony, and the remains of the famous Benedictine abbey of St. Mary’s. In addition to these sights there are 8 km of coast, forests and mountains.
